my love for pilates
I decided to start Synergy Pilates Nashville through a realization that I was not happy in my traditional 9-5 job. I had gone to school for a Masters in Public Administration and was positive at 21 years old that I wanted to work in politics after graduation. As a high school athlete, I kept active throughout college, finding joy in class-based HIIT workouts. The COVID-19 pandemic led me to trying at-home on-demand Pilates routines that I would follow along with daily. In 2022, I moved to Nashville to finish grad school online and bartend. My first apartment in the city happened to be above a pilates studio, and I fell in love with the reformer Pilates workout. Following graduation in 2022, I took a position writing policy research for the state government.

making my dream a reality
While I loved the people I worked with and my degree had well-equipped me for the position, I realized that the 9-5 office lifestyle was not making me feel happy or fulfilled. I explored various other options, from law school, to business school, to other industries, but nothing sparked excitement in me. I thought about the things outside of work that I enjoy doing - spending time with friends, volunteering, and exercising. At this point, I had been taking reformers pilates classes almost daily for two years and decided to get my National Pilates Instructor Certification. I knew that I didn’t want to work for a corporate studio, teaching a handful of classes a week; I wanted this to be my lifestyle. I considered opening a brick-and-mortar studio, but through market research, quickly realized that that was a costly and risky option, as new studios were already popping up all over Middle Tennessee.

and Synergy pilates nashville was born
One day on social media, I came across an individual who was offering mobile training, with a trailer that had dumbbells, squat racks, bench presses, and other equipment, and I thought ‘what if I bring reformer Pilates to the client?’ and the concept of Synergy Pilates Nashville was born. In the conceptualization phase, I recognized that giving back to the community is an important value of mine and I wanted to make sure that I kept that central to the business through charity classes and partnerships. ‘Synergy’ represents the working together of two or more parts to create an effect greater than the sum of the individual parts. This includes the working together of the client and the trainer, the client and their own body, and for me, the business and the community. I want everyone to experience the benefits of Pilates and the joy of moving your body in a low-impact, high intensity way.
